Pet Grooming

Clean coat, happy pet, happier home.

Grooming is more than appearance — it is an essential part of your pet's health and comfort. Regular baths, brushing, and coat care prevent skin irritations and infections. Long or matted fur can hide fleas, ticks, or wounds. Overgrown nails affect posture and cause discomfort. Clean ears reduce the risk of bacterial and yeast infections.

Dog being professionally groomed at The Animal Doctor Vet Clinic in Nairobi

Our grooming team at The Animal Doctor cares for dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments. Whether your pet is small and fidgety or a large breed experiencing grooming for the first time, every session is conducted in a calm environment using patient techniques that keep your pet relaxed and comfortable.

Every grooming appointment includes a health check by the groomer. We look for skin irritations, lumps, ear problems, dental concerns, and any unusual changes. Findings are flagged to our veterinary team on the spot, giving your pet both a fresh coat and a layer of preventive care in a single visit.

We use only veterinary-approved shampoos and conditioners, including sensitive skin formulations, medicated washes for fungal or bacterial conditions, and hypoallergenic products for pets with known allergies. Our goal is a clean, healthy, and comfortable pet with no irritation or stress.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I groom my pet?
Dogs benefit from grooming every four to eight weeks depending on breed and coat type. Cats generally need grooming every eight to twelve weeks. Long-coated and double-coated breeds require more frequent sessions to prevent matting.
My dog dislikes baths. Can you still groom them?
Absolutely. Our team uses gentle handling, patience, and calm techniques designed to reduce stress. Many pets that arrive anxious become noticeably more relaxed after just a few regular sessions with us.
Do you groom cats?
Yes. We groom cats of all breeds using techniques suited to feline behaviour and temperament. Sessions range from a simple bath and brushing to full trims and specialised coat care.
Do you use flea and tick shampoo?
We offer medicated shampoos for active flea or tick infestations as part of the grooming session. For ongoing prevention, we recommend topical or oral treatments prescribed by our veterinary team.
How long does a grooming session take?
A full grooming session typically takes two to three hours. A bath and brush alone usually takes one to one and a half hours. Pets with heavily matted or very thick coats may need additional time.
